Introduction

After getting almost 45k views and a lot of feedback on r/running, I’ve returned to this guide to restructure its audience. Plenty of people have made running guides before, I want to contribute with a (relatively) no frills guide for people who want to start building their mileage for any reason.

That being said, this is running 1 to 10 and not 0 to 1. I’ve realized through many conversations that I am thoroughly unequipped to guide someone who has no athletic experience, and their time is better spent learning from people who were once in the same position. For this reason, I’ve added Running 0 to 1 where I list resources that others have found helpful in this pursuit.

This guide will be more focused on people with previous athletic experience that may or may not include running. If you can run for 15ish minutes at any pace this guide should be helpful.

I figure if you are here, I don’t need to tell you why you should run. Ultimately, your success is rooted in your own motivation.

We have a lot in common. I’d start by reading Daniel’s Running Formula, an imperfect but strong guide to understand advanced running. It’s also 320 pages long(and I love every bit of it).
